MISSION

"We cannot do what we do not know."  Canada Research Center exists to help Americans and Canadians to learn about each other as a key to building strong commerce and friendships.

 XPERT

Paul Rux, Ph.D. leads a network of experts on doing business with Canada.  He earned a M.A. in Canadian History, University of Toronto.  He has taught Canadian Studies in Ontario and the USA.  Dr. Rux was a guest speaker for the founding of the Association of Canadian Studies in the United States.  He has led field studies to Toronto and Ottawa, Canada.

Paul Rux earned his B.A. (History), M.A.L.S.  (Library & Information Studies), and Ph.D. (Management) from the University of Wisconsin - Madison.  He designs and teaches onsite and online M.B.A. courses on Management and International Business.  He serves on the State Leadership Council of the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) / Wisconsin.

Paul and Jane Rux plan to open a branch of her art business in Fergus, Ontario.  She is an expert folk artist.  See www.rosemal.net.

CROSS-BORDER

Dr. Rux is founder and chair of Xpert Venture Designs Corporation, or XVDC.  It is a nonprofit chartered by the federal government of Canada to create new ventures in and with Canada.  See www.venturedesigns.org Its CEO, Fred Long is a business educator and lives in Cobourg, Ontario, outside Toronto.  Fred earned his M.B.A. from York University in Canada.  XVDC works with Canada Research Center to promote strong cross-border funding and partnerships.

RESEARCH

Canada Research Center also teams with the Wisconsin State Historical Society to "mine" its collections of up-to-the-minute Canadian federal and provincial government documents.  The Society is part of the campus of the University of Wisconsin - Madison.  Its collection of Canadian historical materials is one of the richest in North America.  We are helping the Society to become the leading research resource on Canada for Great Lakes States.

CONSULTING

Canada Research Center works closely with the
Wisconsin State Department of Commerce. Wisconsin  does over $5.5 billion of trade with Canada each year.  It wants to expand this to create new jobs.  Canada Research Center plans to apply the "lessons learned" to grow trade with Canada for other Great Lakes States.  More trade creates jobs for both countries.  We work closely with our Canadian counterparts.

EDUCATION

To build ongoing grassroots support for increased business with Canada, Canada Resarch Center creates courses for students and workshops for teachers about Canada.  They explore past, present, and future ties between Canada, the USA, and specific states.  We use cost-effective onsite and online formats.  We work with Youth Care, Inc., an American 501-C3 nonprofit, to fund and create them. See www.youth-care.org.

GUIDES

We tailor unique print and online how-to guides, opportunity information, and learning materials for our workshops, courses, and consulting.

Rux love the Fergus / Elora, Ontario region.

Dr. Rux (left) visits with Ratna Arya (right) in Waterloo, Ontario.  Ratna and his wife Oma immigrated to Canada from India.  Both of their children became medical doctors in Canada.
Ratna was head of the English Department at the Wiarton, Ontario district high school.  Dr. Rux was one of his teachers.  They became lifelong friends.

Jane Rux (left front) poses with Elsie Christensen (in apron), her parents, and Bob Rix (right) in Wiarton, Ontario.  Elsie's husband, Jorn, who has a Ph.D. in electrical engineering, was away.  He negotiates bandwidth on satellites - literally around the world.
Bob Rix (right) and Paul Rux (not in above photo) also taught together at the Wiarton, Ontario district high school.  They, too have become lifelong friends.
